Lindesfarne Day 3

Well today has been a good day, with a couple of little hiccups!

Lovely day on the Island, the wind had dropped, it was very mild, & the sun kept peeking through.  The afternoon was already sorted with a guided walk booked, so it was a short walk for the morning.

So the main thing this morning was to look for birds & we weren't disappointed.

The first stop was the Lindesfarne Gospels garden, again it's winter, so you don't get the full feel of it, but you can certainly see how lovely it will be in Summer.

First few birdies, redshank, heron, ringed plover & a godwit.  (I think).  As the tide was out I  wanted to walk across to St. Cuthbert's Island.  I had plenty of time, so off I went.  Got there turned, slipped & ended up flat on my back.  How I didn't break my camera I'll never know, but I didn't so that's good.  As for me I ended up with just a sore bum & base of my spine - got off lightly really!!  It was worth it - I got there!!

Came home to recover!  A couple of other birdies on the way.

Had lunch & waited for our guide to arrive - turns out we're not the only ones in the cottage, we have a mouse in the kitchen - I'm going to charge him rent!!  Suppose we need to get in touch with the owner again!!

The lady arrived to take us on a guided walk.  Wow, this Island has so many many hidden secrets, I had no idea there were so many lovely quiet hidden places!

Amazing beaches and wonderful views and of course the local wildlife.

I think the most amazing sight was a short eared owl flying around the dunes.  I didn't get a good photo, but Eddie did!!  the experience was amazing.

Brilliant day, but I don't know where I hurt the most!!!
